California Girls Trip August '09

Jaydan and Uncle Trevor have WAY TOO MUCH in common--fumbles

Even though mom's gone, it has been a very good and productive Sabboth.

It was reittered and reinforced about a parent's joy with Pres. Uchtdorf quoting that "happiness of a mother (and father) is directly related to the faithfulness of their least devoted child" and the words in 3 John 1:4 saying "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth".

Why

I sat thinking last week why we are always so quick to exercise our agency negatively but so slow to exercise it for good, so I wrote a little poem in sacrament that asks that question.

Why

Why do we find it hard to say
"I will" in earthly life?
Why do we find it hard to choose
the good and do what's right?

Yet why do we find with ease to say
"I will" to worldly woes?
to follow in sin and worldly ways,
to trail where Satan goes?

Why does agency lend itself to say
"no" to our God?
Yet why with ease do we choose to eat
the vomit like the dog?

Why do we touch the burning flame
or drink the poison deep?
Why in the pond of sewer and scum
we're eager for the leap?

Why do we know the flame will burn,
the poison waits to kill;
yet with excitment and joy we jump,
the sewer, us to fill?

Why with cologne, perfume, and soap
available for use,
why with the sweetness of its scent
we argue it's abuse?

Why can't we see our Brother's plan
to cleanse us free from spot?
Why still we turn with such disdain
and trample what we've got?

Fire and Rescue

GREAT NIGHT!!! We were at the fire department and put on the "turnouts" and started the night. We climbed the ladder and Chris did GREAT!! We went into the "confined pitch black area and felt around to get out. She finished I pulled out for being too, too confined for me. Then we rode code 3, lights and siren around town doing cpr and bagging the manaquin in the back of the van to see how it feels to be boucing around and thrown back and forth. We finshed carrrying and spraying a "charged" hose which is much heavier than people think. It was very, very informative and a ball.

Family River Vacation

We all tried to enjoy as best we could the hospitality of Uncle Joe, Uncle Rick and Uncle Bruce with their boats and continued tube rides...that is as long as you weren't one of the people hanging over the toilet throwing up from sickness that came with Lindsay and ran rampant throughout the whole group and one point or another. On the other hand, it was really nice to have Shannon, Lindsay and Michele. We really missed Trevor and Nikker Lynne.

We Finally Did It...

We don't have the boat anymore, which one of the best family things we've ever bought, but vacation at the River got us to go out and get a couple of Seadoos. We had them out over the week end and just had a ball. EEEEE HAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

Citizen's Academy

Orem City has a 12 week insight called "citizen's academy" where the citizens get to participate in a number of things police, fire, and rescue do and learn about the variations and insights of those jobs. We've been on a lights and siren code 3 felony pursuit, Chris got to give a ticket, get in and check out life flight and have the canines chase her down and drop her. When we were doing the shooting she was really quite good and shot a fully 100% auto AR15.
